He loves to read. He will bring you a book and say "reee". He loves the Mother Goose nursery rhymes, although when you get to the "Mary had a little lamb" page, he turns the page almost immediately. He doesn't seem to like that one too much. He does appear to like "Baa Baa Black Sheep" and "Hickory Dickory Dock" the best.
Mason is also quite the dancer. He loves to bounce up and down and pick up his right foot to music. When the music ends, he claps in an effort to demonstrate that he likes what he is hearing and doing and you better make sure you keep it going!
He also loves ring around the rosie. So much so, that he will even do it by himself if you sing the song for him.
Just last night he had me amazed because he was sitting with Gammy holding his toy ball where you place cut out shapes into their corresponding cut out holes. He and I work with that ball quite a bit, but I usually make sure that the right shaped hole is available for him to put the cut out into. Last night, however, Gammy had stopped paying attention because I had asked a question and Mason recognized that she wasn't facing the right shaped hole toward him, so he made her move the ball around so that he could put his cut out into the ball. I was shocked. Then this morning, I dumped out the ball so that he could play with the shapes while I was getting ready for work and when I was done, all of the shapes were back in the ball! It is simply amazing how quickly he picks up on things now. Seems like it is over night!
Mason has a few more words under his belt. My favorite is "purple" and "woof". He appears to love dogs and will say "woof!" at the sight of dog or if he hears the word "dog". We're still waiting for a sentence, but we are really loving the new words developing.
I believe the biggest development is that he absolutely loves daycare. I used to dread taking him to daycare. It would break my heart to leave him there because he would cry and reach for me. Now he walks me in, makes me take off his coat, he kisses me, waves goodbye and then walks himself into the play area. I am so proud of him and I cannot express how much of a relief it is to know that he is enjoying himself with other children.... though, I don't really see the children playing too much together. They are all off in their own little world.
...two more month and my baby boy is 2. unreal.
