Welcome Home, Isabel

We welcomed Isabel home on Friday, September 30, 2011. We were welcomed home by my mother and we all quickly settled in. It was so nice to be home. When we got home, Mason was still at school.

Matt went to pick Mason up around 4:00 pm and we anxiously awaited his return. I really thought Mason would not have much of a reaction. When he would visit the hospital, he would call Isabel "baby", but would not interact with her too much.

When I heard the door open, Mom and I were in the living room. I yelled for Mason and he came upstairs to see us. He immediately saw Isabel on my lap and started crying. It was hard not to laugh because you knew he was upset but it was definitely a surprising (and somewhat humorous) reaction. The video that we captured is right after he saw Isabel in his home for the first time. Setting the scene - I gave Isabel to my mother so that I could console Mason and get him some juice to calm him down.

We have all settled in well and now Mason calls Isabel "baby seester". He has yet to call her Isabel, but one step at a time. Attached is a video captured about an hour after Mason's initial heartbreak where he acknowledges his sister.

Welcome home, Isabel.
