On October 29, 2012 the east coast was hit by Hurricane Sandy. It was devastating to New York City and to the New Jersey Shore. We were lucky. The only minor disruptions we had were losing power a couple of times and having to bail water from our basement's sump pump until a wonderful neighbor let us borrow their generator. I still cannot thank them enough.
The picture displayed is of Mason looking out the window when the rain had begun at our house. We were all at home because school was cancelled, Matt's work was cancelled and I was attempting to work from home. I do look on this day as bittersweet because we were at home together and we enjoyed the evening very simply by candlelight. It was a nice change for us yet so very devastating to so many other families.
