Mason has reached a major milestone - sleeping in his crib! I believe a miracle to have happened at 1175 Marlstone on October 9, 2009. Prior to this date, Mason refused to sleep in his crib. This child could be dead asleep and the second you placed him in his crib, he would wake up to either play or to be put back to sleep in your arms; however, on October 9, 2009 Mason was placed in his crib and he slept from 7pm – 1:30am. AND more importantly, this is no fluke! He has slept in his crib ever since. We still have some work to do, as Mason only sleeps in his crib the first half of the night BUT this is a great first step. The Pediatrician has given me suggestions (The Ferber method), which reluctantly, we will have to hear him cry it out. I'm not looking forward to this at all. The Pediatrician reminded me that it is important to get him into a good sleeping pattern before the 9th month because then it becomes increasingly harder to break. I do understand, I just... don't want to make him cry it out. Buuut, I guess here we go.
Mason is also becoming quite the talker/yeller. My favorite is when he sounds like a yelling cat. I am attaching a video that captures his 'yelling cat' quite well. Mason has a way to go before he says ‘ma ma’ or ‘da da’, but I’m anxiously awaiting to see what is said first.
Mason is sitting stable more and more every day. He still gets unbalanced, so we are close by when he is sitting. He does like to sit and play with anything that he can get his hands on. It is true that babies put everything in their mouth. Mason puts anything in his mouth. His favorite is paper. We have to make sure paper is never within reach because he will devour it within seconds. Daddy may have not received a Citibank bill due to such a mishap… and daddy may be learning about the lost bill from this entry :). In an effort to provide Mason with only quality objects to put in his mouth, we purchased some teething friendly toys; however, he still prefers the television remote (and I’m guessing, paper of any sort).
Mason is a very good eater. He’s eating oatmeal, applesauce, bananas and, his favorite, Grandma’s yogurt. He will be getting his high chair this week, thanks to Grandma. So that will make eating a little easier and less messy…. Maybe… okay, probably not. We will be including vegetables now and we will introduce a third mealtime.
Finally, Mason is getting closer to crawling. He’s getting his butt up and when he does get on his hands and knees, he rocks back and forth… with the occasional frog leap forward (right onto his face). We are guessing another month and he’ll be mobile. Oh boy!
