8 Months

Mason turned 8 months on December 27, 2009. The months just keep coming and going and he is going to be 1 year before I know it. Gammy has already bought his first birthday cake mold, if that tells you anything. Just a little reminder that time is flying.

It has become very exciting, and exhausting, in our household. Mason is crawling everywhere, climbing on anything and getting into everything. It feels like we are chasing him all day long. If you don't chase him, you eventually hear some kind of crash, whether it be Mason toppling over or Mason toppling something else over or Mason and something else toppling over together. It's never ending. I am constantly worried he is going to hit his head, which he has successfully done on many occasions (you can view our defense against falls at the end of our previous post).

Mason is into everything... Mostly things he isn't supposed to like cords and Christmas tree ornaments. He's even figured out how to open cabinet doors and drawers. We can't seem to childproof enough. He finds EVERYTHING he isn't supposed to. Case in point, he pulled out a hidden Christmas gift intended for me, which I thought I would act as if I didn't see and just put it back where I THOUGHT Mason pulled it from. Turns out Mason dragged the gift out of another undisclosed area and I put it back in the wrong place. Needless to say, I was busted. Of course, I was accused of looking for hidden gifts, but this time, I was not. Honest! I made that mistake ONCE in 6th grade and apparently, will never hear the end of.

Anyway, Mason is keeping us active. It's like a workout just to get him dressed anymore. He rarely sits still unless he is sleeping or is watching me vacuum (He's fascinated by the vacuum and will follow me while I'm vacuuming). He's laughing and playing on his own (as long as he thinks people are watching him). He will reach and cry out to be played with and he loves to rough house with Dad. He responds to his name, but yet does not recognize 'NO!'. Funny, since I use 'NO!' more frequently than I use his name. He still has yet to cut teeth, but he has been fussy and uncomfortable the past couple of nights, so I hope he cuts them soon, for his sake.

Mason does not have a Pediatrician's appointment this month, but we will return for his 9 month checkup. Until then....
