16 Months

Mason turned 16 months on August 27, 2010. He is making great gains. He's starting to mimic what we say. My favorite is "Oh, wow!" I also find it amusing when I scream for my mom and then Mason yells after me with "Moooom!" I have to remind him that I am mom and my mom is Gammy. I think I may be confusing him... especially, when I swear, he called me "Missy" one day.

Mason is climbing on everything. He climbs up on the couch and then sits there with a smug smile that just screams, "look what I have done." He is also climbing on the kitchen chairs just to climb onto the kitchen table. He's unstoppable. Just this morning I was getting ready to go on our morning walk and all of a sudden Mason is quite. I walk into his room to check on him and he has climbed onto his rocking chair and is just sitting in the chair with his right arm resting on the arm rest... like he was waiting for me to finish getting ready. I couldn't help but laugh.

He's also quite a sweetheart. Nana and Bumpa came to visit last weekend. When they were leaving, Mason walked up to Nana and kept giving her hugs. I've never seen him do that before. It was so sweet. I love Mason's spontaneous hugs. Just last weekend, I was being goofy with him and making him laugh. Out of nowhere, he walks up to me and just hugs me. It felt like he was just so appreciative of the laughs and couldn't help but give me a hug... that was my thought of course. He was probably just trying to make me stop. Regardless, I love those special moments.

Mason also cut his first molar. His molar did not come without sacrifice.. sleep! Many sleepless nights accompanied this molar and we still have three more to go. It's been a long time since his last tooth was cut, so it was a fun little milestone.

I think Mason is such a neat little guy. He is so predictable, yet I am always surprised at his reactions to new scenarios. I do know that he thinks the tiger sound on his animal toy slide is funny and will always giggle. I know that the only thing that will keep Mason sit still is the movie Shrek. He will always smile when Donkey says "In the morning, I'm making waffles!" He loves sweet potato fries and veggie straws. He always yells out when you pour the first cup full of water over him during his bath. He will make a sound of disappointment when you walk past the children's park on our evening walk and you don't stop to let him play. It's a given that if he wants down, he will throw the object that he is holding so that you will put him down with the object. and his sleeping behavior... well, that is never predictable!

Here's to 16 months!
