Isabel is 4 Months

Isabel is four months today. She appears to be on a growth spurt. She is back to eating every couple of hours. Though, instead of gobbling down her bottle, she has turned into a little snacker. Gammy mentioned today that it takes forever for Isabel to finish a bottle. She drinks three quarters of the bottle and then waits an hour to finish the remainder. She's also not sleeping as much during the day. Where she used to sleep three hours at a time, she is now taking little cat naps throughout the day.

Isabel is quite the little talker, especially with Gammy. She has a special relationship with Gammy, as Gammy watches her during the day. It is very sweet to see how Isabel lights up and starts cooing when Gammy walks in the room. Gammy asks her "are you my girl?" and she smiles every time.

We can now make Isabel laugh. Last night we were sitting at the dinner table and as I was goofing around with her. She started laughing. That was the first time she laughed without me having to tickle her. She was just laughing at what I was saying. Of course, that was when Mason decided to politely ask for milk. What to focus on?! The first giggle or the first signs of displaying manners. This moment was caught on video, which I am so thankful for as these are the moments I most cherish.

Isabel loves to sit up. She is such a strong little girl. She refuses to lean back. If she is in a leaning position, she will attempt to sit up and is pretty close to successfully sitting up on her own. She also likes to lay on the floor. You lay her down and within minutes, she is turned 90 degrees. She's quite the mover.

We are still waiting for Isabel and Mason to interact. Isabel has started to watch Mason more and Mason gives Isabel an occassional, yet rare, kiss or high five, but it's almost like they go out of their way to ignore one another. Though, I do believe that Isabel has rubbed off on Mason. Mason is, all of a sudden, going to sleep at the same time that Isabel goes to sleep (8pm) AND he is staying in his room. Thankfully, Isabel is a good sleeper. We do have our moments, but for the most part she gets up once a night... usually around 2-3am, but she will eat a little and then go right back to sleep. God must be making up for the lack of sleep that Mason introduced to my life two and a half years ago.

Isabel is gaining weight very well. So far we have not had to supplement with formula, which I am very proud of. Currently, I am keeping up with her, but her appetite has increased and it is becoming increasingly more difficult to keep up with. We have started putting a little rice cereal in the breast milk at night to help satisfy her, so hopefully that helps. She seems to digest it well and after we meet with the Pediatrician for her four month appointment, I believe she will be able to start eating solids.

This has been a fun month. Growth spurts. Giggles. Smiles. Still no hair. We sure do love our baby girl and we look forward to the coming month.
