Matt competed in the Pan American Championships and US Nationals on June 6, 2009. The Pan American Championship and US Nationals took place in Chicago, Illinois. There were 22 countries that competed in the Pan American Championship and Matt was one of eight individuals who represented Team USA. Matt made the US Team with a first place 326 kg total (Snatch 140 kg, Clean and Jerk 186 kg), which he made at the 2008 North American Open Championship.
Matt competed in the Pan American Championship and US Nationals on Saturday, June 6, 2009. Matt Snatched 140kg (308 lbs), Clean and Jerked 175kg (385 lbs) and totaled a 315kg. Matt placed 2nd Nationally and 10th place in the Pan Americans.
We are very proud of Matt as he reached a personal goal of making an international US Olympic Weightlifting team and performed very well in his first international meet.
